Our Clinic

Wellness for Life Chiropractic is a world class environment and we are committed to the service we provide acting as a resource centre for health and wellness. We pride ourselves on our integrity and aim to create an atmosphere which is consistently healing, fun, loving, nurturing, caring and supportive.

Our goal is to improve peoples overall health and wellness not just address symptoms. Our procedures and equipment incorporate high technology including computerised spinal scans but our focus is always on the person as a whole. Time is spent in your initial consultation completing a thorough health history which can be correlated with a comprehensive examination to indicate your level of wellness and the communication that exists between the brain and the body via the connecting nerves. The brain and nervous system control the function and response of every cell, tissue and organ of the body and therefore, controls (impacts) on your health and wellness. Regular progress exams are also performed.

Chiropractic care directly influences the neurological pathways to the brain that influence your health and wellness and how your whole body functions.  We utilise safe, modern and efficient chiropractic techniques that work with the whole body to enhance body and brain function and tap into the bodies own healing capacity.

At Wellness For Life Chiropractic we care for people of all ages - from newborn babies to the elderly. It''s never too early or late to have chiropractic care. Some families have 3 or 4 generations regularly attending for care. Wellness for Life Chiropractic is  recognized as a Parents Choice Supplier recommended by parents for parents.

AWARDS

Bronwyn & Scott McNamara won a GIO excellence in business award for a chiropractic clinic in 1999, Bronwyn won the Sunshine Coast Young Career Woman of the year award in 2000, and in 2006 they have won a MBA award for their new building Wellness For Life Chiropractic.Scott McNamara of Scott McNamara Building and Carpentry won the Sunshine Coast Master Builders Construction Award for health facilities up to $2million

This outstanding building incorporates a series of angles and turrets and the design wraps around two mature semi-deciduous trees. The buildings are linked by an undercover walkway and also includes a modern caretakers residence. The concept of the design of the buildings was to look contemporary but not commercial, and to create an environment that is inviting and appealing for those who work there and clients that attend. The colour scheme is professional, modern and calming. The building is built to utilise natural light, harness breezes, and harmonise with its natural surroundings.

Thanks to the enthusiastic and dedicated team of building professionals Graeme Rickards Building Design, John Titmus (JTC Consulting Engineers), Jamie Kerr (landscaper), Ron Moore Concreting, Andy Ellul (electrician), Paulo Ostrofski (plasterer), Derek Novelli Newry (excavation), Chris Adams (CJA Solid Plastering) and of course Scott McNamara of Scott McNamara Building and Carpentry. Bronwyn's vision for a unique wellness clinic to provide high quality chiropractic care for the Sunshine Coast Community has been created.

Techniques

Our highly qualified and skilled chiropractors, Dr Bronwyn McNamara and Dr Richard Mitton, utilise a variety of specific chiropractic techniques that can be modified and adapted to suit the unique requirements and preferences of the individual client.

The adjusting techniques used at Wellness for Life Chiropractic work with the whole body and aim to enhance healing and the connection and communication between the brain and the body parts.  The brain and nervous system control the function and response of every cell, tissue and organ of the body and therefore, controls (impacts) on your health and wellness.  The chiropractors utilise full body adjusting including extremities (arms, hands, legs and feet) and various visceral (organ reflex) adjustments.

Dr McNamara and Dr Mitton believe it is never possible to stop learning, and so in their endeavor to provide better service for their clients, they regularly attend ongoing training and education seminars, some of which are new or advanced technique seminars. There are many techniques in chiropractic - in fact as many as 80 different ones have been named. All have the one purpose in common - to help the body to release subluxations interfering with the proper function of the nervous system to allow for optimum health. Because of the complex nature of the subluxation, there are many effective ways to approach this problem.

The variety of techniques that are utilised at Wellness For Life Chiropractic are;

AK (Applied Kinesiology)
SOT (Sacro Occiptal Technique)
TBM (Total Body Modification)
NET (Neuro Emotional Technique)
Soft Tissue Techniques - mainly Trigger Point Therapy, Stretching & Muscle Reflexes
Manual Adjustments - Many adjustments are performed by using our hands only, however at Wellness For Life Chiropractic we have also invested in specialised tables, tools and instruments to maximize the effectiveness and versatility of the adjustments we perform.

Other adjusting tools and instruments used are:

Activator Instrument
The Activator instrument produces a thrust which is quicker than the body's reflexes can respond and tighten up the local muscles. In simple terms, the force necessary to move and adjust the joint is developed by the "speed" of the instrument's thrust, and not by a heavy pressure. The Activator instrument produces a very effective thrust, which is only felt as a very gentle sensation. The Activator instrument is a very gentle, low force instrument and is useful for adjusting children, infants, and people who are frail or have osteoporosis.

Drop-Piece Tables
At Wellness For Life Chiropractic we have specialised drop-piece tables imported from America. They have a built in mechanism that allows for a gentle pressure to be applied to a joint with less force than a regular manual adjustment. The section of the drop-piece table drops away and speeds up the section of the adjustment much like the activator instrument does. As the table section drops away slightly it makes a loud noise but this noise comes from the table not the client's body! Our tables also have sections that can lower down to allow pregnant women to comfortably lie down on our tables for their adjustments.

Blocks
The blocks are used as mechanical wedges to help stretch and align the large pelvis bones and joints. They ultilise just the force of gravity with the clients own body weight, to gently create change, improve tone, flexibility and movement in the pelvis and lower back areas.

Dr Bronwyn McNamara states, "I believe that all Chiropractic techniques are effective in improving wellness because all techniques directly or indirectly effect and stimulate the neurological pathways in the brain that influence our well-being and optimize our ability to react and adapt appropriately to our environment. Chiropractic adjustments enhance spinal & neural integrity & self organization."

Research has demonstrated that people under regular chiropractic care perceive higher levels of health and wellness, are better able to deal with stress, have improved organ function including immunity, improved posture and muscle tone, improved concentration, memory, learning and improved sleep patterns.  Chiropractic care can also slow the process of joint degeneration (commonly referred to as osteoarthritis).

Everybody can benefit from Chiropractic care.  People often ask who we can help.  Chiropractic is good for everybody - from newborn infants to the elderly.  In fact it's never too early or late to start chiropractic care....If you're still breathing then chances are we can help you!
